Dock Seals and Shelters

We offer both dock seals and dock shelters to accommodate any dock opening size. Both options greatly reduce energy costs through reduced heating and cooling of your facility. Dock seals create a tight fitting seal directly around the trailer. They use the compression of high density memory foam to seal the gaps. Dock shelters accommodate larger opening sizes without interfering with the forklift’s path into the trailer. They create a barrier around the exterior of the trailer and hug the sides and top to create a seal. We are happy to survey your facility and discuss your individual needs to recommend the proper selection for your application.

Seals

We specialize in custom dock seals that are specially tailored for each dock opening to provide a tight seal to reduce energy costs and keep out unwanted pests. We work with a local seal producer to give you the best price as well as a quick lead time for installation. Each set of seals is handmade to spec for each opening and are available with many options. Some examples of customizations and features of our dock seals include:

  • Wear Pleats – available in 4” and 8” overlap to add extra durability to the seals
  • Drop Flaps – help to seal taller than normal opening
  • Adjustable Head Curtain – movable curtain for opening with various truck heights serviced
  • Wedged Foam – the foam is wedged for larger openings to create a tight seal with the trailer while keeping the backboard out of the opening
  • Tapered Seals – we taper the seals in sloped applications to allow for a better seal and to prevent over compression of the foam which relieves building pressure and extends the life of the seal

Shelters

Shelters provide an encompassing seal around the trailer itself. The shelter hugs the sides and top of the trailer with fiberglass stiffened fabric to provide a good seal as well as allow for service of a greater variance of trailer types. We offer several different models of Dock Shelter to meet your needs. As with our seals, there are a variety of options and features that we can recommend based on your individual needs and use.

  • Shelter Fabric – available in different fabric choices depending on your use for added durability
  • Wood/Metal Framing – standard in pressure treated lumber with options for steel tubing for added longevity
  • Fiberglass Panels – translucent to allow light in to dock area
  • Steel Guards – all shelters come with heavy duty steel channel guards to protect the shelter sides from trailer impacts
  • Draft Pads – all shelters come with fabric covered foam drafts pads to prevent air from entering from sides of the trailer
  • Specialty – also available in soft sided models and flexible side models for accident prone areas. These models are designed to accept the impact of a misaligned trailer and not cause damage to the shelter and/or building structure
